First Aid
First aid is the first and immediate assistance given to any person suffering from either a minor or serious illness or injury, with care provided to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, or to promote recovery.
A reason to become a first aider, will be to benefit both you as the individual and the community you are involved.
It enables you to assist anyone who is injured in the event of an accident or emergency situation until more specialised help arrives. First Aid skills can be applied at home, the workplace or in public locations, therefore the more First Aid certified people are in the community the safer it will become.
Introduction to First Aid for Mental Health (RQF) Level 2
This qualification allows learners to become a first aiders for mental health in their workplace. This means they will be able to provide basic mental health support or to be the first response to someone in need.
Although the qualification will not allow learners to become clinically qualified to diagnose or treat mental ill health, learners will acquire a deep understanding of the principles of first aid for mental health and on the basic tools to listen to individuals who require first response support for their mental health
A mental health first aider is a nominated individual within an organisation who anyone can go to, to assist with a mental health problem.
The first aider will help to advise and guide those needing assistance and will have knowledge of how to identify those who are developing mental health issues

- Promoting wellness culture in the workplace
- Resilience and self-care for mental health
Assessment:
Candidates will be assessed by the tutor throughout the 2 days via verbal questioning. A final assessment will take the form of a written examination comprising multiple choice questions at the end of each day.
Examination papers are externally marked by HABC assessors, therefore certificates can take between 2 - 4 weeks to be processed and sent out to delegates.

Emergency First Aid At Work (RQF) Level 3
This one day training option meets the highest industry standards, recognised by employers nationally, approved and accredited by Highfield Awarding Body of Compliance.
Certificates are valid for three years; however, it is strongly recommended that delegates undergo refresher training every 12 months.
Industry Sector:
Any business / organisation which employs 5 or more employees.
Who is the course for?
Anyone with an interest in emergency first aid; employees working in low risk industries; employees who want to assist qualified First Aiders in high risk industries.
Aims:
To enable candidates to perform emergency first aid to conscious and unconscious casualties, safely and effectively.

- Recognition and treatment of shock

- Identification and treatment of bleeding, and fractures

Expected Learning Outcome:
Candidates will gain accredited certification to demonstrate ability to administer emergency first aid at work.

- Identification and treatment of burns and scalds
- Communication and sending for help
- Recording and reporting of incidents
- Contents of a first aid box
- CPR and AED.
Assessment:
Candidates will complete a practical assessment throughout the day. A final theoretical assessment will take place at the end of the day.
Certificates are externally issued via Highfield qualifications and can therefore take between 2 - 4 weeks to be processed and sent out to delegates.

Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF) Level 3
This qualification is created for individuals that wish to gain knowledge and skills required to enable them to perform emergency peadiatric first aid. This training is suitable for pre-school or nursery staff, toddler groups volunteers and childminders, can also be suitable for parents, relatives and foster carers.
This qualification can be achieve within 1 day of training, its valid for 3 years.

Paediatric Frist Aid
Paediatric Frist Aid training is a course that is for everyone who is responsible for the wealfare of children. As it helps you to understand how you should adapt and employ basic Frist Aid techniques for a child or a baby.
There are two courses of Peadiatric Frist Aid, which one is completed within 1 day, (Emergency Peadiatric) The second training takes over 2 days ( Emergency Peadiatric at work)
The training course will include the role and responsibilities of a Peadiatric First-aider and allowing you to proved first aid for an infant or a child who is unresponsive or even breading normally.

Paediatric First Aid at work (RQF) Level 3
This course is aimed at individuals that want to become a paediatric first-aider in the workplace with the responsibility for the welfare of infants and children. This qualification takes over 15 hours of learning, which becomes 12 hours over 2 days. This qualification is suitable for learners that are already working in the industry or preparing to work, it also meets the requirement for paediatric first aid outlined in the early years foundation stage.
